Davis Cup final: Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Coboli take Italy one step closer to third consecutive title

“When I play for my country, I just think about trying to win the next point, trying to work hard for my teammates, everyone here and everyone watching at home,” Berrettini said.

“It’s the biggest honor. It would be even better if I win, but I try to enjoy being there every time. It’s something very special.”

World No. 22 Coboli followed up his compatriot with a 6-1 6-3 victory over Austrian No. 1 Filip Misolic.

Coboly, 23, was in fine form in the Wimbledon quarter-finals this year, dominating with three breaks of serve in the first set which lasted just 30 minutes.

He tightened his control of the match early in the second set, breaking serve early to take a 3-0 lead before confidently serving for victory.

Coboly echoed the sentiments of his teammates in his post-match interview, saying: “We all want to win this trophy and I felt the support from the bench, which was unbelievable.

“When I played for them, it was beyond words.”
