Daniil Medvedev clinched the title at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Saturday after Tallon Griekspoor withdrew before the final with a left hamstring injury.
Grikspur suffered the injury during Friday’s semifinal victory over Andrei Rublev. He landed awkwardly after serving, and although he eventually won in straight sets, he was unable to recover in time for the championship match and was eliminated.
This is Medvedev’s 23rd tour-level title and his second of the 2026 season after winning in Brisbane in January. This is also the first time the 30-year-old has won the same event twice, having previously won in Dubai in 2023.
Medvedev is ranked 11th in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, just 45 points behind 10th-ranked Alexander Bublik as he bids to return to the top 10 for the first time since June last year.
Medvedev won his 21st tour-level trophy on hard courts, joining world No. 2 Jannik Sinner for the second-highest number among active players behind Novak Djokovic (72).

Grikspur is seeking the fourth and biggest ATP Tour title of his career in Dubai, where he defeated top 20 players Bublik, Jakub Mencic and Rublev this week. The Dutchman’s only previous meeting with Medvedev at a Lexus ATP event was in Dubai last year, when he memorably saved four match points in the semi-finals.
