Glasner admits that Palace must replace Ez after struggling in Europa League qualifiers

Crystal Palace owner Oliver Glasner said his team had to find a way without Eberechi Eze as he was excluded from the Europa Conference League on Thursday with Fredrikstad.

The Hawks managed to score a 1-0 victory in their first European outing, with Jean-Phillipe Mateta capturing the only goal of the game.

However, the lack of Eze on the sides is significantly lacking in mass, which may hinder their return legs into Norway.

After the game, Glasner said: “When you are fighting such deep obstacles, you may need someone who can dribble through one or two players and score on your own.

“That’s what Eberechi gave us. We have other profiles now, Ismaila is a runner, JP in the box and Devenny. We’re trying to find them in the wings, with many crosses in it.

“EBS will no longer play for us, so it makes no sense to talk about him.

“It’s gone. It looks like he hopes everything goes well for the new club, for us it’s to attract more players but not allow them to go to the second leg.

“We know this will happen more or less, so we’ve been looking for the right alternative for weeks and we hope to do it with more stress over a 10-day period.

“I’m going to be involved, but my job is to prepare for the team at Nottingham Forest. We’ve been undefeated until now, and that’s the way we want to continue.”

Steve Parish was also Quizzed Quizz after Eze’s absence, and the palace owner almost confirmed the departure of his star man.

He said: “We have to go over it. He is great for us and we are glad he will continue to realize his ambitions.

“We have to find other players to support the team and Oliver Glasner. We will attract players, it’s about finding the right players.

“I think Oliver wants too much, I think it’s the right number. It’s about the right balance and we’re going to be a little thin anyway. We’re working on our jobs and wanting to get the quality we can get.

“We’re very lucky with Oliver because he’s very involved, he’s a very data-driven manager. He’s very specific about what he wants.
