According to the NHL Commission Committee Committee, Canadian Hockey Five (Hockey Five) should have a clearer vision of the NHL’s relatively fast future after a judge in Ontario was released in one of the recent memory of a hockey case — Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube and Dillon Dube and Callan Foote should have a clearer picture of the NHL’s relatively fast future.

Five former NHL players were ruled impossible to return to the NHL, and the league reviewed the findings of the case – in the case, all five players were acquitted on July 24, 2025, while McLeod was also acquitted for a separate charge, a party to the offense against sexual assault.

While the NHL Players Association has so far disagree with the league’s decision, the five players still suspended all league activities and programming indefinitely.

Daly noted that the league did take “the issue very seriously”, adding that it was because of this situation and the future of the players still under review.

As for the case, the acquittal was the first encounter in a hotel room in central London for more than seven years. Officials have decided not to file a decision to acquit five players, a case that attracted many Canadians in London, the world of hockey and the country.

Although the case is extremely polarized between different circles, it has delayed the conversation about hockey culture to the forefront, one of the main reasons for the Canadian hockey transformation.

While most players aren’t at the forefront of conversations in re-entering the NHL, Hart’s name already comes with several teams – namely the Edmonton Oilers and his former club, Philadelphia Flyer.

That being said, Flyer Governor Dan Hilferty said in a news conference Wednesday that the organization is temporarily unwilling to comment on Hart or his identity.

“At this point, we will not comment on this situation,” Hillfety said. “The NHL made it clear that they will speak first and now, we are not ready to comment on Carter Hart’s situation at all.”
