Newcastle doesn’t have much luck in the search to sign a new striker to compete with star Alexander Isak, who now looks to be planning to stay in St James Park.

Hipies terminated interest in Hugo Ekitike as Liverpool took action for Eintracht Frankfurt Man, which they have done after the sale, which was not sold this summer. This means Newcastle has returned to the drawing board and he has missed Joao Pedro, who joined Chelsea earlier in the summer.

But club officials will not be threatened, and they have now set a new top target for competing with Isak.

According to David Ornstein, Newcastle has turned its attention to Yoane Wissa in Brentford, who scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season. The 28-year-old is loved by Eddie Howe and given his versatility, he will be able to play as a winger with Isak.

The problem with Newcastle is that Wissa’s deal will be very difficult, especially now that Bryan Mbeumo looks to leave Brentford and join Man United. The bees will not be under pressure to sell another of their star forwards, whose price may rise from the £50 million reported in recent days.

Most importantly, Newcastle may face competition from Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, both clubs have shown interest in Wissa in recent weeks. Adding to this, they have not yet reached an agreement with the Congo International PhD on personal terms.

Whether Newcastle moves to Wissa remains to be seen, but given this, it could be another deal they decided to make for more achievable actions.
