Chicago’s Coby White hopes to make $30,000 on next contract

Prior to the 2025-26 season, the Chicago Bulls have locked in a member of their starting backcourt. Point guard Josh Giddey signed a four-year, $100 million contract.
That’s the average value of $25 million per year. Recently, NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that another member of the Chicago backcourt was seeking a lot of extension. The Bulls’ Coby White apparently asked his next contract to ask for $30,000 per season. He will make $12.8 million in 2025-26. Will Chicago give white people a growing payday?

In the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Bulls picked Coby White from North Carolina. The 25-year-old has played for Chicago for six seasons. He participated in 422 games and 225 games. White has been a full-time starter for the Bulls for the past two seasons. This was not the case early in his career. In his first three seasons, White started only 72 of his first 195 games. Coby White has adapted his role several times in six seasons with the team.
Whether he started or stood out from the bench, SG is an effective player in Chicago. He averaged 19.7 points per game over the past two seasons. White’s 20.4 points per game in 2024-25 are the highest in his new career. During the offseason, NBA insiders reported that White was seeking a large number of contract extensions. Jake Fischer noted that White requires a price of $30+ million per season.

In the upcoming 2025-26 season, 12 shooting guards earn $30+ million each year. Names at the top of the list include Devin Booker, Donovan Mitchell, and Anthony Edwards. They will make $45 million or more in 2025-26. Players like Jalen Green, Tyler Herro and Jordan Poole will earn at least $31 million next season. Is Coby White in Chicago that part of the discussion?
The team won’t give Josh Giddey an average annual value of $30 million in his contract. Do they feel the same about Coby White? His 2025-26 campaign will be his last effort to convince him to $30 million a season for Chicago or any other team. Next year will be White’s seventh season with the Bulls. If he can take his game to another level, Chicago’s hand will be forced. We have to wait to see if the Bulls see Coby White as a long-term work of their franchise.
