Chicago becomes Patrick Kane Day on August 8 – Hockey Writer – Chicago Blackhawks

The City of Chicago officially announced as “Patrick Kane Day” on August 8 to commemorate the No. 88 jersey of the Chicago Blackhawks legend.

Kane, Charlie Roumeliotis, who was in the Icehouse in Johnny, Chicago, when Brian Hopkins, the city’s second ward, presented him with a certificate commemorating the day.

According to CBS Chicago Krista Ruch, Kane spent a morning with his son, also known as Patrick, who was preparing for the entire day of work in the community with his teammates.

Kane spent his final two seasons with The Detroit Red Wings during the offseason, signing a year-on-year, $3 million extension that kept him in touch with the club in the 2025-26 season.

In 16 seasons with the Blackhawks, Kane picked the first pick in the 2007 NHL admissions draft, scoring 446 goals and recording 779 assists for 1,225 points in 1,161 regular season games.

Kane’s best stats season was in the 2015-16 game, earning a league-leading 106 points (46 goals and 60 assists), winning the Art Rose Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award and Hart Trophy.

He also participated in 136 playoff games in Chicago, scoring 52 goals and recording 80 assists and scoring 132 points. He helped the team win three Stanley Cup titles in 2010, 2013 and 2015. In 2013, he scored 19 points with nine goals and 10 assists, resulting in him being won the Conn Smythe Trophy Playoff MVP.

In the NHL total season with the Blackhawks, Red Wings and New York Rangers, Kane had 492 goals and 851 assists in 1,302 games, scoring 1,343 points. In 143 Professional Stanley Cup playoffs, he also scored 53 goals and 85 assists and scored 138 points.

Kane’s Red Wings finished 2024-25 with a record of 39-35-8 and 86 points, finishing sixth in the Atlantic Division and missing the eighth straight season of the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks finished 25-46-11 with 61 points, finally in the Central Division, ranking second in the Western Conference and the NHL. Chicago missed the playoffs for the seventh time in the past eight seasons.
