Chelsea announces signing of Jamie Gittens from Dortmund

Chelsea has officially confirmed the signing of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Dortmund, completing a £48.5m deal, plus a potential add-on of £3.5m.

The 20-year-old British winger has signed a seven-year contract with Stamford Bridge, according to the club’s official website.

Bynoe-Gittens, widely regarded as one of England’s most exciting emerging talents, arrived after the promising spell of Borussia Dortmund.

Last season, the young winger scored 12 goals for Dortmund in all games.

Chelsea adds more depth to their offense

The wingers join a rapidly growing Chelsea offense and have seen Joao Pedro and Liam Delap arrive this summer.

The arrival of Bynoe-Gittens will add depth and competition on the side, giving Maresca a versatile option that can run on either wing.

With Chelsea aiming to improve its offensive output, his ability to gain defenders in the last third, creating space and providing quality will be key, and the field has been inconsistent over the past two seasons.

Bynoe-Gittens expressed excitement to return to the UK and took the next step at Chelsea.

“It feels great” Gittens said. It’s great to join a big club like Chelsea.

“I can’t wait to learn from everyone on the team and push myself here. This is an amazing feeling.

The arrival of Bynoe-Gittens could also have an impact on Chelsea’s existing wingers and speculate on the future of players like Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke.

The latter is linked to the transfer to Chelsea Premier League rival Arsenal, with the Gunners making progress this summer to sign the British winger.
