Cavaliers player Jarrett Allen breaks left ring finger

Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen has been listed as questionable ahead of Friday night’s NBA Cup game against the Toronto Raptors with a broken left ring finger.
Jarrett Allen suffers finger injury against Celtics
Allen, 27, was injured during pregame warmups before Wednesday’s 125-105 loss to the Boston Celtics, which ended Cleveland’s three-game winning streak.
An X-ray on Thursday showed the fracture was not displaced, confirming that the broken bone fragments remained in their original positions and were not out of place.
Despite not feeling well, Allen played through the injury against Boston.

The 6-foot-11 big man finished with 16 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 25 minutes of action while hitting 4 of 7 shots (57.1 percent) and making all eight of his free throw attempts.
The Cavaliers said Allen will undergo a series of treatments and evaluations before the next game. According to Chris Fedor of cleveland.com, it’s possible that Cleveland could let Allen play again amid the injury.
“I think Jarrett feels like he has the potential to get through this. And I think the Cavaliers are thinking about, okay, what’s the worst-case scenario? I don’t think they’re too concerned about the long-term effects that might come from playing through this particular injury,” Fedor explained.
Cavaliers still without Darius Garland, Max Strouse
Fedor noted that the Cavaliers will work to control Allen’s pain and swelling and that he will also receive “other forms of treatment.” His injured finger will be reexamined and monitored frequently.
Allen averaged 14 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals in his first five games in Cleveland. He shot 57.5% from the field and a career-high 80% from the free throw line.
The Cavaliers have lost starting point guard Darius Garland (toe) and forward Max Strus (foot) as they continue rehab from offseason surgeries.
If Allen misses the game, Dean Wade, Thomas Bryant and Larry Nance Jr. are all backup players who can get more playing time for the injury-plagued Cavaliers.
After facing Toronto, the Cavaliers will host the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.
