4 ways to get Bethpage Black Tee time

This is the “People’s Country Club”, and that’s the challenge: a large number of people want to play it. So how did you land at this week’s Ryder Cup host Bethpage Black’s kickoff time, and demand is much greater than supply?
Let’s calculate the method. (Hint: All of this involves planning ahead, luck, or some combination of the two.)
Online Options
In another lifetime, when people are still relying on rotating phones and having things like busy signals, you can actually make a call (and call and call) hoping to talk to a Tee board staff member and spread out in front of them. no longer. Like most everything, the reservation system is already moving online.
To use it, you first have to register an account in the Bethpage State Park subscription system, which you can do here. New York State residents receive discounted interest rates, (slightly) access online time earlier. However, you can only enjoy these privileges if the system considers you a verified state resident. To do this, you need one of two forms of ID – a New York State Driver’s License or a New York State Non-driver ID – you can introduce it online or in person at the Bethpage State Park’s golf office.

Not surprisingly, the opening is quickly snatched away, sometimes suspicious, so it is well known that bad actors using robots can snap up reservations in the first place, thus depriving the public of fair cracks on TEE paper. To address this, Bethpage announced earlier this year that it will start charging $5 non-refundable booking fees while limiting the number of cancellations allowed per month. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the measures carried out by these robots are helpful. But online booking is still fast, especially for four. It helps to use your computer quickly and adapt to your plan. The fewer players in your group – yes, you can book solo – the more likely you are to encounter time.
Cancel online
Life happens. Plans change. Golfer cancelled. If you try and fail – book your TEE time in advance, you can log in at any time when you wish to search for the last-minute cancellation. no promises. But this usually works. Please note: You may have to click the Refresh button frequently and if the opening appears, you must act quickly.
Camping in the parking lot
This is golf other Traditional is different from others: sleeping in the parking lot of Bethpage. Throughout the season, the first six fours of the day had reserved walking games, and the lines of these slot machines began to form the day before, filled with golfers who were eager to play black so much that they were willing to spend the night in the car.

The process is crazy and simple. Parking space is numbered. First, take it for the first time. Arrive as early as possible and shut up as much as possible. At around 4:30 a.m., a course employee will swing and distribute numbered tickets, just like the kind you get in a deli. Once you get your ticket, head to the club and wait for your phone number (here, the deli becomes more like a DMV), at which point you are going to go to the counter to book your time. You can sleep later.
Daytime walk
If sleeping in your car is not your business, you can always show up and put your name on the waitlist. All day, hourly hours are spent on walking. One of these attractions may become yours. If you cancel online while you wait, you may also be called to fill that open slot.
All of the above applies to normal operating cycles. But, in Bethpage Black, these are not ordinary times. When the course reopens after the Ryder Cup in early October, bookings will not be made for the first two weeks. Walk-in competitions are only allowed. Games will also be restricted to restore courses from competitions and cancel stands and other infrastructure. Schedule may fluctuate based on weather, course conditions and pace of withdrawal.
