Carlos Alcaraz will return to defend his title at the 2026 Kinoshita Japan Open in Tokyo, the tournament has confirmed.

The PIF ATP Ranking No. 1 made his debut at the ATP 500 event last year, dropping just one set on his way to the title, beating Taylor Fritz in the final. It’s one of eight Tour titles Alcaraz will win in 2025.

Alcaraz, 22, has started his 2026 season in strong fashion, winning back-to-back titles at the Australian Open and ATP 500 in Doha. The Spaniard won his first title in Melbourne, becoming the youngest man to complete a career Grand Slam.

With last year’s win in Tokyo, Alcaraz joins fellow ATP No. 1 club members Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic as champions of the ATP 500 event.

Alcaraz has a 12-0 record in 2026 and is more than 3,000 points ahead of rival and world No. 2 Jannik Sinner in the PIF ATP rankings, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.
