NHL Rumors: Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers and Vancouver Canucks

TVA Sports: Renaud Lavoie went on last night’s TV show to deny reports from Marco D’Amico RG Media that the Montreal Canadiens have inquired about Buffalo Sabers center Tage Thompson.
“I’d say dream it, but believe it could actually happen one day, no. There was a lot of talk today that the Canadiens contacted the Sabers to see if Thompson could play. That’s very surprising news and I can tell you that’s not the information I have on the matter. Tachi Thompson is like Rasmus Dahlin. You can compare them to Nick Suzuki and Ryan Hutson with the Canadiens.
“They’re the backbone of the team. The availability of these players isn’t real, and very few teams have contacted them to find out what their availability is, if they’re available. Dylan Cozens is one thing, JJ Peterka is another. But when we talk about Tachi Thompson, we’re talking about the best players. These guys are not going anywhere.”
NHL Rumors: St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators, Buffalo Sabers
Thompson, 28, has a salary cap hit of $7,142,857 and is under contract through 2030.
Trevor Zegras not considering contract extension
Kevin Kurtz: Philadelphia Flyers forward Trevor Zegras said he is considering the possibility of re-signing with the Flyers.
“I’ve never thought about it. I feel like it’s just a distraction. Play some good hockey now. Those things will work themselves out in the long run. But it’s not something I’m thinking about.”
NHL Rumors: St. Louis Blues and Brayden Schenn
Second-line center remains priority for Vancouver Canucks
fourth period: Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrick Alvin continues to search for a second-line center, which remains their top priority. They’ve been dealing with injuries but are still on the playoff bubble. However, their salary cap space is limited. Alvin and Jim Rutherford have a history of acting early and late.
