Carlos Alcaraz’s stellar start to the 2026 season could get even more interesting at the Miami Open hosted by Itau.
The PIF ATP No. 1 player will begin his pursuit of a second Miami title against either #NextGenATP star Joao Fonseca or Fabian Marozsan, with fourth seed Lorenzo Musetti also taking part in his half.

In December, Alcaraz faced off against the Brazilian in an exhibition game at Miami Ballpark. Three months later, they may meet again, this time for their first Lexus ATP Head2Head series. Fonseca needs to beat Marossan, who beat him in Rome last year, to create a blockbuster. The Brazilian had just forced Sinner into two tiebreaks in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open.
Fonseca reached the third round of his first ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami last year, beating Learner Tien and Ugo Humbert before losing to Alex de Minaur.
Second seed Janik Sinner, fresh off a victory in Indian Wells, will begin his run at the Sunshine Doubles by facing either Damir Dzumhur or the qualifier/lucky loser in the opening match. The 24-year-old has a 19-3 record in Miami and has reached the finals in three of his four appearances, according to the Infosys ATP Win-Loss Index.
The Italian, who won the title in Miami in 2024, is in the same quarter as seventh seed Felix Auger-Aliassime. Auger-Aliassime will face Marton Fucsovich in the second round or the qualifier/lucky loser.
Sinner will likely face third-seeded Alexander Zverev again in the Final Four in a rematch with the Indian Wells semifinals in Miami. Zverev will start against wildcard picks Martin Dam or Jacob Fearnley.

Sixth seed Taylor Fritz is in the quarter-finals of Alcaraz and if both make it to this stage they could face the Spaniard in the quarterfinals. The top-ranked American faces Denis Shapovalov or Botik van der Zandschulp in the first set.
Musetti is the likely semifinal opponent for Alcaraz, who will aim to bounce back from a second-round loss in Indian Wells when he faces a qualifier or lucky loser in his first match in Miami.
