Warriors’ Moses Moody to miss remainder of preseason with calf injury

In the 2025-26 preseason, the Warriors have played three games. With the team’s record at 2-1, the Golden State Warriors lost to the Lakers 126-116 on Sunday, October 12th.
The Warriors were without shooting guard Moses Moody in that game. He started each of Golden State’s first two preseason games. However, he missed Sunday’s game due to a calf injury. NBA insider Anthony Slater reports that Moses Moody will miss the remainder of the Golden State Warriors’ preseason. The team hopes Moody will be available for the first game against the Lakers on Oct. 21.

Kerr said Moses Moody will miss the final three preseason games with a left calf problem. The Warriors hope he can return in time for the regular season opener. Moody was injured recently in training. “Not too worried,” Cole said.

The Warriors selected Arkansas’ Moses Moody with the 14th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. As a rookie, he won a championship with the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 playoffs. In four professional seasons, Moody appeared in 255 games and made 57 starts for the Braves. During the 2024-25 season, Moody appeared in 74 of the Warriors’ 82 games and started 34 games. Moses Moody averaged 22.3 minutes per game and scored a career-high 9.8 points.
By mid-February of the 2024-25 season, Moses Moody received the full-time starting job from head coach Steve Kerr. Moody retained his starting spot throughout the 2025-26 preseason. Moses Moody sat out the Golden State Warriors’ third preseason game on Sunday. The 23-year-old is currently dealing with a calf injury. It was announced that Moody will miss the remainder of the Warriors’ preseason.

In the 2024 offseason, the Warriors signed a three-year contract extension with Moses Moody worth $45 million. The 2025-26 season is the first year Moody is signed. Head coach Steve Kerr said Moody will be re-evaluated within a week. The Golden State Warriors were cautious about Moody’s injury a week before the start of the regular season.
Moses Moody reportedly suffered a calf injury in training. If he’s unable to play in Golden State’s first game, the Warriors have several players they could turn to. Brandin Pozzymki and Jonathan Kuminga are more than capable of starting. Moses Moody would love to take the field for the Warriors on October 21st. This will be the first time in his career that he will start on opening night. Additionally, the Warriors are eager to start the new season with a three-game winning streak.
