Thriston Lawrence after eliminating the hopeful Ryder Cup in the European Masters
Thriston Lawrence won two exciting wins, defeating Matt Wallace, Rasmus Hojgaard and Sami Valimaki to end his three-year DP World Tour title.
South Africa’s bogey was in the first three holes of his final round, fighting the Hawks and five birdies to win the championship.
Lawrence had to deal with strong challenges from Wallace, Hojgaard and Valimaki, who all worked hard on the last day. Meanwhile, Matt Fitzpatrick ranked fifth.
After his victory, the 28-year-old said: “It’s not easy. I’m nervous all day. It always looks so easy, but it’s not. I’m just so excited and happy. It’s so hard all day. I’m proud of the way I fight.”
Because of his valor in Switzerland, Lawrence provided himself with checks of more than $500,000.
Ryder Cup Arrangement
Hojgaard has already earned a spot in the Ryder Cup team at the Betfred British Masters last week and he doesn’t have to worry about his place in the team.
But when Luke Donald finished his side on Monday, Wallace and Fitzpatrick all rely on the captain’s draft pick. Both men certainly want to get his attention at the Crans-Sur-Surre Golf Club.

“It depends on Luke [Donald] Honestly, during the conversation, I was very happy.
“At the beginning of this year, I hadn’t thought about the Ryder Cup, and if I didn’t go in, I would just miss it, so there was a lot of confidence from it.”
