Brewers and Royals to return to street sports

The Brewers announced a new agreement with Main Street Sports, the company that owns Wisconsin-based FanDuel Sports Network. It’s unclear if this is a one-year deal or a multi-year deal, but the Brewers will be back on the same page in 2026. MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy was among those who forwarded the news.

That could be good news for the Brewers, or at least not bad news. The regional sports network (RSN) model has been crumbling in recent years due to cord-cutting and the rise of streaming. Some major league clubs have had their RSN deals fall apart. These clubs can only allow Major League Baseball to broadcast in a direct-to-customer model. This works better for some fans because they avoid blackouts, but it results in less revenue for the team.

The Royals also reunited with Main Street Sports to exercise a mutual option for the 2026 season. “Nothing is more important to us than connecting with our loyal fans and delivering our games to them“, Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman said in a press release.”Our ratings continue to grow and continue to be among the best in baseball via cable and streaming“.

The partnership with Main Street Sports has been fruitful. Royals games ranked No. 1 in prime time in the Kansas City area last season, according to the release. “Our multi-platform strategy drove strong viewership growth last season, and we look forward to working together to expand audience reach and increase fan engagement,” Sarah Tourville, executive vice president of team partnerships at FanDuel Sports Network, said in a press release.
