Braves sign Brewer Hickron to minor league deal

Braves sign outfielder Brewer Hicklen He signed a minor league contract, according to Aram Leighton of Just Baseball Media. The deal could include an invitation to Atlanta’s major league spring training camp.
Hickron is entering his age-30 season and has appeared in 10 career major league games in three of the past four MLB seasons. His most recent cup of coffee on the show included a game with the Tigers in 2025, when Detroit acquired the outfielder from the Brewers (fittingly) early in the season.
The Tigers designated Hickron for assignment and later traded him to the Phillies in late July, who did not promote Hickron to the active roster before the end of the season. Hickron has now landed in Atlanta after opting out of minor league free agency.
Newly acquired utility workers Mauricio Dupont will spend some time in the Braves’ outfield, and Michael Ciani and Eli White Is a top backup outfield option coming off the bench. Looking at the depth chart, however, the Braves’ farm system doesn’t have any outfielders with any major league experience, so even Hickron’s 10-game resume could give him an edge over the competition, as he has a solid .240/.346/.464 slash line in 1,731 games at the Triple-A level, though he hit just .221/.318/.403 in 393 PA in 2025.
