BMW Championship Preview – Golf News

The 2025 BMW Championship marks the last stop before the Tour Championship and the last chance for the top players in the PGA Tour to earn a place in this year’s Ryder Cup team.

This year’s game once again became the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs, returning to the Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland. Last year, Keegan Bradley, who now won the BMW title at the Castle Pines Golf Club outside Denver, entered his last stroke and became the last person to qualify.

course

Caves Valley Golf Club is known for its challenging layout and scenic beauty. The course features 18 holes designed to blend in with the natural environment, providing players with tests of skills and strategies.

Only the top 50 players in the FedEx Cup rankings will be able to get the game up when it starts Thursday, August 14 after the Memphis FedEx St. Jude Championship last week.

By Sunday, August 17, the field will be cut to the best 30th, which will advance on the tour in East Lake, Georgia starting August 21. Cave Valley held a BMW title for the last time in 2021, when Patrick Cantlay knocked Bryson DeChambeau out of the playoffs.

Rory McIlroy will return after skipping the Memphis event, although the odds makers still put him far behind world No. 1 and FedEx Cup leader Scottie Scheffler.
