Blackhawks put out flames, Bader leads with 4 points – Hockey Writer – Chicago Blackhawks

We see the Calgary Flames attempt to extend their first win streak of the season to three in a row against the Chicago Blackhawks at Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday night.

While the Flames are hot, the Blackhawks have been cooling off, losing three straight games. However, they cruised to a three-goal win against the Vancouver Canucks, and perhaps they are picking up after a strong performance against the Flames.

game review

First, the Blackhawks opened the scoring three-quarters of the first period when Tyler Bertuzzi used his legs to put the ball back in the net on an improbable pass from Connor Bedard through traffic.

It was the only goal of the opening period and the Blackhawks’ 1-0 lead remained until the second quarter.

In the third quarter, the Blackhawks began to pull away. One minute into the final game, Bedard fed Bertuzzi the ball in a two-on-one sprint, and the latter scored his second goal of the game. His eighth goal of the season surpassed Bedard as the team’s top scorer.

The Blackhawks then went unanswered for their third consecutive goal, and Bedard found himself rushing the ball again in strange fashion. This time, he set up Andre Burakovsky, who beat Dustin Wolfe to give Bedard his third major assist of the night.

Despite a late power-play opportunity, the Flames couldn’t get on the board. To end the Blackhawks’ 4-0 victory, Bedard stole the ball from Morgan Frost and drove in on his own to complete Wolfe’s four-point night.

Spencer Knight made 33 saves in the win, his first shutout of the season. Regardless of the outcome, both teams are dealing with injury issues, with Blackhawks 2022 first-round pick Frank Nazar and Flames 2024 first-round pick Zayn Parekh both leaving the game with injuries.

The Blackhawks will wrap up their road trip with a three-game winning streak against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday, while the Flames will play the Minnesota Wild on the road the same day.
