Billie Jean King Cup 2025: How Britain beats the United States in the semifinals

Analysis – Tennis Correspondent Russell Fuller
The beliefs radiated by this British team are not like bluffs. They now win seven of the past eight ties and reach three semifinals in four years.
But beating the United States will be the biggest achievement of Captain Anne Keothavong so far.
To do this, GB may need to guide Katie Boulter’s spirit at the United Cup on New Year’s Eve 2023.
In her only previous meeting with world seventh place Jessica Pegula, Boulter recovered from a match and won the game with a fascinating style by defeating the game 3-0 in Perth.
There were expected forehand winners, but Boulter and some firm defense earned a lot of points online.
At the time, Boulter’s game was full of freedom and confidence. She made it to these finals with just one victory in seven games, with little confidence in her serve.
She said she felt like a “new version” after having a while at home and changed the service move, and would be the best version if she was going to prove Pegula’s aggressive ball hit.
The Americans did a great job and would move Bolt on the court. Pegula has three titles this year, five finals and the U.S. Open semifinals.
