Battle of the Sexes: Aryna Sabalenka to play Nick Kyrgios in Dubai on December 28

Three official matches known as the “Battle of the Sexes” have taken place, the most famous of which was the 1973 match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs.
American veteran Riggs defeated Australia’s Margaret Court, and King exacted revenge four months later.
In 1992, 40-year-old Jimmy Connors defeated multiple Grand Slam champion Martina Navratilova, then 35, under mixed rules.
“I have a lot of respect for Billie Jean King and everything she has done for the women’s game,” Sabalenka added.
“I’m proud to represent women’s tennis and be part of the modern version of this iconic ‘Battle of the Sexes’ competition.”
Kyrgios, who reached the 2022 Wimbledon final, said he would welcome the opportunity to play against Sabalenka, with whom they share the same agent.
“When the world number one challenges you, you answer the call. I have a lot of respect for Elena; she is a powerhouse and a true champion,” he said.
“But I never back down from a challenge. I’m not just here to play, I’m here to have fun. That’s what I live for.”
