Queen: LTA promises equal bonuses in the pasture game and Eastborn in 2029

Both men’s and women’s events are in the “500” category – the third-level match behind the Grand Slam and 1000 events.

The ATP event in Queens has been sold out, and so far 80% of tickets to the Women’s Championship have been sold out.

During WTA week, ticket prices are low and there is no way to increase the income of long-term mature men’s activities.

The money spent on bonuses can’t be spent on developing grassroots tennis in the UK, and LTA said summer events lost a total of £4 million last year.

The promise of LTA to launch an equal bonus in 2029 is four years before the deadline set by the WTA.

The WTA said that by 2027, the main merger activity should have the same bonus, but technically the Queen’s week – which must be until 2033.

Eastbourne is a “250” event that will feature both men and women the week before Wimbledon.

The women’s prize is priced at $389,000 (£286,650) – making it the highest salary for this year’s tour – while the men will share €756,875 (£637,000).

“The LTA’s commitment to developing women’s tennis at the professional and grassroots level is a big part of this commitment,” said Scott Lloyd, CEO of LTA.

“Fans this year will be able to enjoy men’s and women’s tennis at the greatest stage we can offer.

“We want to develop competitions so that women’s events can bring profitability and greater visibility to the sport.”
