Athletics hire Ryan Christensen as first base coach

Christensen spent most of his baseball career with the A’s, both as a player and coach. He made his debut in 1998 and played four seasons with the club. Christensen compiled a 391-307 record and was named the 2014 California League Manager of the Year and the 2016 Texas League Manager of the Year.

In 2018, Christensen landed his first job on a major league staff. He joins the A’s as a bench coach, a position he will retain through 2021. Crosby entered the coaching ranks in 2019 at Midland, the Athletics’ Double-A affiliate. He coached in the minors until 2024, when he became the A’s first base coach. Crosby will now move across the diamond after spending two seasons at first base.

Martins has been the club’s third base coach since 2023. He also began his coaching career at Midland, serving as hitting coach in 2015. He joined the Athletics in 2020 as an assistant hitting coach. He was named first base coach in 2022 after two seasons in that position.
