Astros releases Omar Narvaez – MLB Trade Rumors

Astros releases receiver Omar Narvaez KPRC2’s Ari Alexander reported from his minor league contract. Narvaez spent less than two months on Triple-A Sugar Land, where he reached .258/.402/.333 on 117 set appearances from Astros.

Houston Carry Yainer Diaz,,,,, Victor Caratiniand Cesar Salazar In the 26ers lineup, about two and a half months, during which time Narvaez was added to the organization. After the All-Star game, Salazar was selected for the triple A and added some depth to the minor league ranks, Narvaez may have disappeared from the Astros’ perception.

Narvaez appeared in each of the past 10 major league seasons, with his 2025 resume consisting of four games against White Sox earlier this season before he was released in May. Narvaez has managed only the slash of .201/.278/.286 in his Golden Years 521 Major League cricket appearances since the start of the 2022 season, and has been limited to minor league trades since METS won a two-year 15mm contract from the 2024 campaign.

As an experienced defender who once had a reputation as a defender, Narvaez fell somewhere on a team that needed to capture depth. There is no mention of the opt-out clause in Narvaez’s deal, but it may be that if there is no clear path to Narveaz to get the Astros’ roster (no multiple injuries) then both sides agree to split the way so that the catchers can get a job elsewhere.
