Arvid Drott's game is defined by his versatility. He may not be elite in any particular field, but he can contribute almost anywhere on the ice.

Drot uses his body in all three areas. On the offense, he was not afraid of internal forces and then went online to get scoring opportunities. When he didn't have a hockey player, the people who were willing to set up a draft pick created opportunities for his teammates. In the neutral zone, he uses contacts to win hockey battles and gain possession. On defense, he never takes away property and will eliminate hits if necessary. He likes to go where the hockey is and there are very likely bodies there too.

Meanwhile, Drott's play is not completely defined by waving his own weight. He provides excellent wrists and releases them accurately. He combines strong shots, confidence and comfort in the hockey anywhere in the offensive zone, which makes him a key factor in the game of strength. He has risen and maintained a high score rate through DjurgårdensIF's youth system over the past three seasons, although in this regard, the 2024-25 season is a slight step. After averaging about 2 points per game between the U16 and J18 teams from 2022 to 2024, he scored 36 points in 40 games of the J20 team this season.

Moving forward, Drote will need to improve his expectations and reading about the situation. He is still a very primitive prospect, and he doesn't always be able to think ahead when it comes to the ice on offense and defense. As far as the former is concerned, he occasionally forces a pass or tries to make a non-existent scene, simply because he didn't expect a defender to be where he was trying to put the puck. For the latter, he was so determined to go to the hockey that he would often get on the hockey because he would be better served by taking a step back and defending a player who was not involved in the moment but could be in any second. His hustle and tenacity are admirable, but sometimes makes him lose his place.

Drot showed a lot of hope, and he did a lot of small things that helped win. He still has room to grow and his potential makes him an interesting prospect.

NHL Potential

Drott has been around for at least a few years, and Drott won’t be ready for the NHL and may need some time in the U.S. Hockey League to adapt to the pace and style of North American hockey. But if he can make the transition, he can become a six-mile winger. Jason Zucker is probably his high-end comparison. The two have similar builds and play a competent style combined with scoring ability.
