NHL Rumors: Boston Bruins and the top 24 NHL free agents

Boston Bruins are keeping a close eye on possible scenarios, just in case
Anthony DiMarco of Daily Faceoff: It’s too early for the Boston Bruins to plan for a trade deadline this season, according to sources. They are still evaluating and seeing how their season goes.
It does sound like they’ve been monitoring who might be available if they decide to become buyers. Some Calgary Flames could be interested in the Bruins.
After last season’s moves, they have two first-round picks in the next two drafts, as well as 2023 third-round pick William Zellers. They projected $3.4 million in room at the trade deadline.

The Top 24 NHL Free Agents of 2026
Matt Larkin of “Daily Faceoff”: The salary cap is expected to rise to $113.5 million from $104 million next season. The 2026 NHL free agent class looked strong this past offseason, but players have been re-signing big contracts and next year’s free agent class is shrinking.
1. Artemi Panarin – LW – 34 – New York Rangers – It might make more sense for the Rangers to collect assets for Panarin before the deadline rather than extending his contract.
2. Alex Tuch – RW – 30 – Buffalo Sabers – Could be moved before the deadline if both sides don’t agree to an extension.
3. Sergei Bobrovsky – G – 37 – Florida Panthers – They traded Spencer Knight, so Bobrovsky may still be in their plans.
4. Rasmus Andersson – D – 29 – Calgary Flames – Could be traded before the deadline. Will he sign a contract extension when traded, or will he hit the market?
5. Nick Schmaltz – RW – 30 – Utah Mammoths – Scored between 20 and 23 points for four straight years.
6. John Carlson – D – 36 – Washington Capitals – It would be a surprise if he ends his career elsewhere.
7. Mike Matheson – D – 32 – Montreal Canadiens – There will be enough room to re-sign Matheson and they will still pay if they can find a second-line center.
8. Boone Jenner – C – 33 – Columbus Blue Jackets – Might be re-signed, but if they go out again, will he want to go through another year without the playoffs?
9. Evgeni Malkin – C – 39 – Pittsburgh Penguins – Can he be a stopgap option for the Florida Panthers this season and re-sign next year?
10. Anders Lee – LW – 35 – New York Islanders – would receive trade benefits if the Islanders withdraw.
