Griffin boldly ignores thunder
Blake Griffin made early predictions for next season’s NBA finals, not including the defending champions. Appear Postal with Candace Parker and Aliyah BostonGriffin said:
“I think Denver is going to the finals of the West. I mean, I think it’s New York or Cleveland in the East. I’ll take New York.”
Griffin added that Denver’s progress this summer gives them an edge, while Oklahoma City won’t repeat as a Western Conference champion.
Offseason action in Denver
The Nuggets have carried out a series of roster upgrades that have attracted the attention of the league. Nikola Jokic finally got a reliable backup in Jonas Valanciunas, while Cameron Johnson, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Bruce Brown stepped up their rotation. Denver also cleared the contract by relocating Michael Porter Jr., Russell Westbrook and Dario Saric. The result is a roster with depth, perimeter shooting, more than last year.
Despite the serious injury, the same group pushed the Thunder into seven games. With Jokic’s support, Aaron Gordon Healthier, Griffin believes that the Nuggets can now return to everything they need for the finals.
Houston competes
The Houston Rockets are also ready to challenge. After trading Jalen Green, the team is committed to Alperen Sengun as its core. Plus Kevin Durant makes them instant contenders, and Amen Thompson can move forward. Houston finished second in the Western Conference last season, then won seven more series.
Both the Rockets and the Nuggets are closer to breakthroughs than ever, making Oklahoma City’s road repeating even harder.
The East opens
In the east, Griffin picked out the Knicks and the Cavaliers. New York hired Mike Brown and acquired Karl-Anthony Towns, which caused a sensation. Town praised the new coach, saying the team must “invest each other with all our efforts and our goals.” Along with Jalen Brunson and the powerful auxiliary actor, the Knicks look deeper than last season.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers still feature Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley. Despite the disappointment in the playoffs, their regular season tables show the potential of the championship.
A vast season
While the Lakers, Timberwolves and others are still threatening in the West, Griffin believes Denver’s summer upgrade makes it the most dangerous. In the East, his appeal to New York is the level of openness of the conference. What is certain is that the 2025 season is expected to compete fiercely on both sides.
