Phoenix has no interest in Carl-Anthony Town

According to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, the Phoenix Suns reportedly had zero interest in the acquisition of Karl-Anthony Towns.

“I heard that the Suns are not interested in Karl-Anthony Town,” 98.7 FM Phoenix’s John Gambadoro shared Thursday. “I did hear it today. Today I was told they wouldn’t be interested… Today I was told that the Knicks were likely, and they were more likely to want an OG Anunoby or Mikal Bridges than Karl-Anthony Towns.”

Knicks make an offer for Kevin Durant at trade deadline

ESPN’s Shams Charania also reported Thursday that New York made an offer to Durant in February on the NBA trade deadline. Durant favored the deal with the Knicks, but never reached a deal.

Such a deal would have worked for both teams, as the town cap is $49.2 million this season and $53.14 million in 2025-26. Durant sells books for $5.17 million in the sport and for $54.17 million in 2025-26.

Town won his fifth All-Star Trial in his NBA career and the Knicks’ third All-NBA Game. The 7-foot-long 24.4 points, a career-high 12.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.0 steals and 35 minutes of 72 games.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Knicks set record

Additionally, the Town scored 44 points and 13 rebounds in a 116-107 win over the Miami Heat on October 29. He scored 17 of 25 shots from the field, 6-6 in 5-5 and 6-6 games outside of ARC.

The 44 points are also the most in a Knicks Center game since Patrick Ewing in 1995.

Since Carmelo Anthony in 2014, the town has also become the first player in Knicks franchise history, with 40 points, 10 rebounds and 65% shooting percentage.

Town was named the Eastern Conference player this month for the first time in his career as he played in December. He led the Knicks to a 12-2 record that month, with an average of 23.2 points, 14.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

However, this is not enough to impress the Phoenix.

There is another disappointing season for the sun

Despite the start of the highest salary in NBA history, the Suns plan to rebuild under the new management after losing the playoffs for the first time in five years.

Since taking over in 2023, owner Mat Ishbia has spent $860 million on a team that won two playoff games. The team recently fired head coach Mike Budenholzer, replacing him with Jordan Ott, and appointing Brian Gregory as general manager.

The Suns’ “Big Three” (Bradley Beal), Devin Booker and Durant – may also be separated.

The three players will earn $162 million next season, accounting for 73% of the team. Not only did Phoenix serve as the luxury tax team for the fourth consecutive year, it also expected to earn $25 million for the second time.

Durant is in the final year of his contract signing, and on the day after the NBA finals he is eligible for a two-year, $124 million extension, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
