Arsenal and its agreement with Sporting CP to sign Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal is on the verge of termination of summer signing and has reached a deal with Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres, which is now almost done.

The two clubs have previously reached a deal worth €63.5 million (£5.48 million) and received a potential bonus of €10 million (£8.6 million).

However, due to negotiations on the structure and realizability of these add-ons, the finalization of the transfer was made.

These outstanding problems are now almost completely solved, and only minor adjustments and final formalities can be formally carried out. Throughout the process, Gyokeres has been committed to joining Arsenal and has no interest from any other club.

Agents of the Swedish striker agreed to abandon the committee with a famous gesture to help facilitate the transfer. The 27-year-old will sign the contract until June 2030.

Sports president Frederico Varandas recently revealed that the Girlocks would face a “serious fine” and apologized to his teammates after failing to report pre-season training – a decision reportedly related to his desire to secure a move to north London.

Gyokeres was one of Europe’s most prolific strikers last season, leading 52 games to a staggering 54 goals in 52 games as he led Sport to win domestic doubles and won Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal.

Arsenal did not have a natural 9 struggle for most of the campaigns in 2024-25, due to injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, who identified the Swedes as their highest target.

Despite being second in the Premier League again, Mikel Arteta’s side scored 17 fewer goals than champion Liverpool, highlighting the need for clinical strikers.

Gyokeres’ rise is excellent. After leaving Brighton for £1m in 2021, he became a brilliant performer to the championship, eventually winning a €20m relocation in 2023.

In Portugal, he has accumulated 97 goals and 28 assists in all competitions, helping the club win in a row and domestic cup victory.

Arsenal’s summer recruiting boulevard has been aggressive under new sporting director Andrea Berta. Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard strengthened the midfield from Real Sociedad and Brentford, respectively, while Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke were from Chelsea.

Defender Cristian Mosquera also agreed to move from Valencia and is expected to join Singapore soon.
