Anthony Davis undergoes ophthalmology surgery and returns to the Mavericks Camp

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday that Dallas Mavericks superstar Anthony Davis has been under a program to fix the independent retina he suffered in the 2024-25 season.

Anthony Davis will be ready for training camp

Davis is expected to be healthy in time in training camp, his first time with Dallas in a blockbuster deal for Miff, sending Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Davis suffered a strain of left adductor muscle when he made his debut against the Houston Rockets on February 8, leaving him for about six weeks. Before exiting, he recorded 26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks.

According to basketball reference, Davis played only 11 games in Dallas last season, including two games, and he averaged 33.5 points and nine rebounds.

Davis suffered a right eye injury in a 120-118 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on April 2 in Dallas. His teammate Daniel Gafford accidentally elbowed him into his eyes.

Davis left the match and returned with a bandage above his right eye. He needed four needles above his eyes. He missed the next game, but that game was on the first night back to back.

The former NBA champion scored 4 of 4 (100%) from 4 from 4 from the foul line with 34 points against Atlanta.

Kyrie Irving at least until January 2026

Davis and No. 1 Cooper Flagg cut their jobs for them next season as star point guard Kyrie Irving is recovering from the ACL tear and potentially keeping the situation through January 2026.

Irving agreed to extend the $119 million contract last month with the Mavericks. The three-time all-NBA member turned down the $43 million player option next season before signing his new deal.

Daniel Gafford, a Mavericks Center, also agreed to sign a three-year contract worth nearly $60 million. Gafford’s agent Mike George and Klutch Sports’s Shy Saee negotiated a new deal before 2028-29.

The move also took place a few days, according to NBA insider Marc Stein, with big man Dwight Powell receiving his $4 million player option in the 2025-26 season.

Powell turns 34 on July 20 and will return to Season 12 with Dallas.

In 55 games in Dallas this season, Powell averaged a career-low 2.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 10 minutes of play, while shooting 68.9% from the field and 65.1% from the field at the foul line.

Unless any injuries, Powell, who is 6-foot-10, will currently play in front and back in Anthony Davis, Derek Lively II and Gafford.
