Hot becomes the first No. 10 seed to enter the NBA playoffs

The Miami Heat made them beat the Atlanta Hawks 123-114 in overtime in NBA game history Friday night. Since the current format of the game began in the 2020-21 season, HEAT has become the 10th seed in any conference.

Miami Heat become the first team to win two road games

Miami also became the first to advance with two road victories. The Heat won the game 109-90 against the Bulls Wednesday night in Chicago after finishing with a 71-47 lead in the first half. Miami won eight of the last 12 games to end the regular season, which is the game.

The sixth straight season in the playoffs was also the playoffs, the longest winning streak in franchise history. It's their fourth game in a row, breaking tie for most games with the Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers.

Tyler Herro dropped two 3-pointers in overtime, and Davion Mitchell missed each of his four goals in the first half, scoring just seven points in the regulations, and then adding three 3-pointers in overtime. This is consistent with his career in any quarter of his career.

Additionally, Herro and Mitchell scored or assisted with 31 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Herro is the only player in a single season with 30 points.

“I know our group wants to get stuck,” said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra. “I can see it in their eyes and feel it in their hearts.”

Although Heat Waves is used to seeing Herro make clutch threes, Mitchell's starring role is a surprise for many. He fired from deep in the fourth quarter, heating up the heating time.

“Let him struggle like that in the first half and have the fourth quarter, overtime really speak to his character,” Spoelstra said of Mitchell.

Mitchell said Spoelstra and his teammates’ support helped boost his confidence at the right time.

“I felt like I forced it in the first half, trying to do too much,” Mitchell said. “I just reset it in my head… let the game come to me. … I just believe in the work I'm investing in. Even if I'm missing the shot, that's OK.”

Miami improved to 20-23 in 20-23, 11-6 against South East Division opponents. The road race against Atlanta has also improved to 14-6 in the last 20 games and they feel unstoppable now.

“We did the tough way. We went through the battle test,” Haywood Highsmith said, ending the outing with 12 points and 10 rebounds. “We can go anywhere and beat anyone.”

Heat (37-45) now visited the most important Cleveland Cavaliers (64-18) Sunday night for the first game of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
