Canadian Open: Victoria Mboko continues to dream of reaching semifinals

In the men’s game, Alexander Zverev fought from one match to defeat defending champion Alexei Popyrin 6-7 (6-8) 6-4 6-3.

The 28-year-old German entered his 75th semi-final on the ATP Tour, becoming the only active male player to reach this milestone with Novak Djokovic.

He will face Karen Khachanov of Russia, who crossed Alex Michelsen of the United States as 6-4 7-6 (7-3).

The Cincinnati Open confirmed that Djokovic began on Thursday for “non-medical” reasons.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion, who failed to compete in Toronto due to a groin injury, has not competed since losing to Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon semifinals.

The 38-year-old is unlikely to compete before the U.S. Open begins on August 24.
