Allen to the Bulls, Buzelis and dosunmu to the Cavaliers

Cleveland may want to reshape the frontcourt

The Cleveland Cavaliers may be exploring the idea of trading center Jarrett Allen. One suggestion scenario is that the Chicago Bulls landed Allen in exchange for Matas Buzelis and Ayo Dosunmu.

This trade concept was first proposed by Grant Hughes, reported by Bleacher, because the Cavaliers believed that Evan Mobley had a relevance when it was constructed in a full-time central role. Cleveland may opt to adjust the roster after another early playoff exit in 2024-25.

“Another postseason disappointment… could inspire the Cavaliers to redirect the roster around Evan Mobley to a full-time center,” Hughes wrote.

Allen immediately has an impact on Chicago

Allen, 27, ended a strong season with Cleveland. He averaged 13.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 70.6% from the field, the highest percentage in the NBA. He also played all 82 games, proving his durability.

Two seasons ago, Allen had a career-high 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. This level of production shows the type of value he can bring to Chicago as a long-term starter.

Although Nikola Vučević remains on the Bulls’ roster, trade rumors surrounded him during the offseason. According to KC Johnson of Chicago Sports Network, Vučević is expected to start the 2025-26 season with the team. However, adding Allen might indicate eventually staying away from the Veteran Center.

Chicago Bulls May Keep Ayo Dosunmu in NBA Trade Rumors

Knights increase youth and versatility

In return, Cleveland will receive Ayo Dosunmu, a versatile defender who will be the NBA Jellokee in 2021-22. In 46 games last season, Dosunmu averaged 12.3 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Promising rookie Matas Buzelis will also head to the Cavaliers. His average score was 8.6 points, while his first NBA season combined was 45.4% and his 3-point shooting percentage was 36.1%.

Both players were on the way with Mobley and had no conflict with his position on the floor. The trade will give Cleveland more flexibility and youth in the frontcourt without sacrificing defensive potential.

The logical actions of both parties

If the Cavaliers are ready to move to Mobley to the center and trade Allen as two young floor-pitch forwards, that makes sense. At the same time, the Bulls will provide a reliable and efficient big man for the future.
