Sailors claim Domingo Gonzalez – MLB Trade Rumor

Sailors announce they have claimed to be right-handed Domingo González Give up from the Brave and assign him to Triple-A Tacoma. Atlanta designated his claim earlier this week as correct Connor Seabold. Seattle’s 40-man lineup is open, but it’s full now.

González, 25, has no major league experience yet. Atlanta was originally an international signing for the Pirates, killing him in the minor league phase of the 2022 Rule 5 draft. A few years later, after the 2024 campaign, Atlanta added him to the 40-man roster to prevent him from reaching minor league free agents.

He started to do some starts in the pirate system, but has been almost entirely a reliefist since joining the Brave. He only had two starts since the switch organization started with two innings. He recorded 106 1/3 innings with an average running of 3.55 in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. His 11.9% walk rate is a bit high, but he beats 34.3% of his opponents.

Given this show, Atlanta doesn’t want him to escape and give him a roster. But his achievements are supported this year. He threw 42 innings with a 4.29 ERA, 21.4% strikeout rate and 11.5% walking rate. The numbers seemed to prevent him from getting a major league call, and also nudge him from 40 people onto the exempt wire.

For the Mariners, they have a free roster and use it to shovel Gonzalez. Since he was in the first option in three years, M’s might be patiently trying to get him back on track. He doesn’t have the service hours for Major League Baseball, so if he can develop into a useful Major League arm, he will be cheaply controlled in the next few years, although he must show enough hope to hang on the roster first.
