Germany caused quite a stir in Sydney on Friday before looking for a symbolic victory in the Confederations Cup.
The 2024 champions took a short pre-match break to visit the famous Wylie’s Baths near Coogee Beach. The Germans – Alexander Zverev, Eva Liss, Laura Sigmund, Kevin Kravitz, Patrick Zahraj and Mina Hodzic – had a great time in the tidal pool, especially the team bonding.
“I’m a big fan of team events, so I’m really happy that the German team is here,” Reese said. “I feel like we don’t have a lot of time [when] The ATP and WTA can come together, so I’m excited. “

Two years ago, Zverev and Siegmund helped Germany to greatness, beating Poland 2-1 in a memorable final. Zverev and Sigmund sealed victory in the mixed doubles decider. That year, Angelique Kerber played singles, and this time Lys took over.
“This team is a little different than when we won the championship two years ago. But Laura is here, I am here. We have had good success in the mixed games in the past,” Zverev said. “We have a fantastic female player this time around in Eva, so it’s great to have such great support and hopefully we can keep going and achieve the same success as two years ago.”
Germany will begin their bid for a second Confederations Cup trophy on Sunday in a day match against the Netherlands in Group F. Leith is scheduled to face Susan Lamens before Zverev takes on Talon Grikspoor.
