Alejandro Tabilo reached his sixth final and the most important final of his career at the Rio Open hosted by Claro on Sunday, defeating Ignacio Buse 6-3, 6-3.

Rain delayed Saturday’s semifinals of the ATP 500 event in Rio de Janeiro, but Chilean Tabilo quickly moved into title contention and finally took the court on Sunday morning. According to Infosys ATP statistics, the 28-year-old hit 17 winners and won 85% of his first-serve points en route to victory in 71 minutes of play.

Tabilo climbed 26 spots to No. 42 in the PIF ATP live rankings and will return to the top 50 for the first time since May on Monday. The southpaw is seeking his fourth title and trying to become the first Chilean to lift a tour-level trophy on clay, hard courts and grass. Tabilow will face either Vit Kopriva or Tomas Martin Etcheverry in Sunday’s final before 5:30 p.m.
