Artemi Panarin and New York Rangers won’t talk publicly about his contract situation

Dan Rosen of NHL.com: 33-year-old Artemi Panarin will be UFA after this season. He said he will focus on this season and will not speak publicly about his contract situation.

“It’s obviously a sense of this safety for everyone, but I’m not in my first year in hockey, so I’m used to being in those situations, not every year, but what it is now,” Panarin said. “I’m not complaining now. I’m ready to work hard.”

TSNChris Drury, general manager of the New York Rangers, also said he would not speak publicly about Panarin’s contract situation.

“I’ve documented a lot of times what I think of him as a player,” Rangers general manager Chris Drury said of Panarin earlier this week. “He is a big part of our team and the organization. He doesn’t seem to slow down in my opinion. He takes his off-season seriously. He looks like he’s in good health and ready.

“As far as the content of the contract is concerned, I also said, I did not talk publicly about the negotiations. Any conversations I have with Artemi or his representatives will remain that way, just private.”
