After three days of Ryder Cup hell, Rory McIlroy’s emotions surged

Farmingdale, NY – After a runaway Saturday at the 45th Ryder Cup – at the time, Mich Ultra-Poul-Puluel Tryhards, even the official 1 win for the event, Emcee turned Rory McIlroy and other members of the European team into their personal packing, which was early on Sunday’s track, and early on Sunday’s singles, and felt friendly and gentlemanly.
Part of that might be due to the warmth of the temperature spreading into the 80s on the warm Bethpage Black, mostly still in the afternoon, but mostly due to Europe’s amazing seven-point lead opening in four-point and four-ball matches, which had the same effect on the event that there was a spike on the ball.
Nevertheless, even if the supporters of Blue and Blue are, the fat lady has not yet sang. McIlroy landed on the Marquee Bout in the fourth of his 12 singles matchup against Scottie Scheffler on Sunday. World No. 1 (that would be Schefler) vs. World No. 2 World Four Grand Slams vs. Five. The Future Hall of Fame and the Future Hall of Fame. The dream thing, even in the context of becoming a European rout. Any fans in need are assisted by the killer winning a heart-warming national anthem “Mr. Brightside,” aid, which thrived when McIlroy and Scheffler were ready to hit their opening blast.
McIlroy led the way as a birdie in the second place but was still 1 after the player hit the ball in 44 and 4. When McIlroy left the tee, European fans’ side right rope line began to cheer him on the familiar Cranberry’s “zombie” melody, but tailored McIlroy’s lyrics. “He is in your heaaaad / he is in your heaaad / roaaar-uh-ee, roaaaar-uh-ee…”
When the song (a song that was popular on property this week) emanates, one of the revelers yells, “Roly, we have your support!”
On the other side of the fairway, inside the rope line, McIlroy’s manager Sean O’Flaherty walked with a few acquaintances.
One of them joked with an Irish accent, “You pay them and say, Sean?”
Overheti smiled and said, “Ah, that’s great.”
Exchange and McIlroy (Bethpage Black) pays taxes for a week here. The Ryder Cups aren’t easy on the road team, especially on the road team stars – but the abuse McIlroy suffered is not only regrettable, but also offensive. “F-You, Rory!” is a common jab. Other fans made shots at his major sadness, height and even his wife. Shane Lowry said Erica McIlroy heard “surprisingly”.
McIlroy ignored a lot of barbs, but not all, sometimes glaring at heck, telling them to shut up or pop them out of the property, just like he did with a criminal on Sunday’s 10th hole. “This shouldn’t be acceptable in the Ryder Cup,” McIlroy said Sunday night. “We’ll make sure to say to Ireland fans in 2027 that what’s going on here this week is unacceptable. I think if I were American, I would be angry – I didn’t hear too many shouts at Scotty today, but I’ve heard a lot of shouts at me.”
Each game attracted Sunday’s crowds, but McLroy-Scheffler’s clash was the main event. After taking action inside the ropes, there are a group of team representatives of the tournament, family members of the players, journalists, and even a few celebrities SNL Actors Colin Jost and Marcello Hernández were part of NBC TV coverage earlier this week; comedian Nate Bartagze also briefly introduced the cameo. On the sixth hole, Jost and European captain Luke Donald’s wife Diane discussed Justin Rose’s exciting performance during Saturday’s four-ball match. “You never know who will get hot,” Diane said. Diane has seen her husband captain two Ryder Cup teams and played four more.
As the game progresses, so does the disciples. As McIlroy narrowed a short putt on the 7, a fan reminded McIlroy of a similar short putt he missed on the 2024 U.S. Open 72nd hole at Pinehurst. In the next hole, a 3-pole in the natural amphitheater, a fan shouts “F-You, Rory!” McIlroy crosses the green. McIlroy’s father Gerry sat in the green space and could only shake his head. As Rory’s long bird tries to sail through the hole, someone shouts, “Get into the water!”

McIlroy didn’t He’s the best (none of Schefflers) but he’s not about giving in to dirty fans. Throughout the week, he found a way to fight in resistance. He and Tommy Fleetwood paired the five birdies on Friday morning and waxed Collin Morikawa and Harris English, now 5 and 4. He and Shane Lowry were halfway against Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay in the four-ball game that afternoon. In Saturday’s foursome, he and Fleetwood had a rematch with Friday’s opponents and collected another point. McIlroy rejoined Lowry’s four goals Friday afternoon, beating Justin Thomas and America’s hottest player Cameron Young, 2.
McIlroy’s four games, with 3.5 points, has increased his all-time score total to 21.5, one point higher than José María Olazábal’s transport, within a half of Nick Faldo and Seve Ballesteros. What these names mean for McIlroy. In fact, much more than something. This incident did indeed seem to grow in his heart every pass.
“We talk about everyone who paved the way for us,” Luke Donald said after his 15-13 European victory. “Now, descendants of tonight will talk about this team, what they did and how they overcome one of the toughest circumstances in all sports. It was inspiration for me, and that’s what Rory got, and all 11 others got.”
McIlroy blinked and rubbed his eyes as Donald spoke. He was emotionally excited, grateful and exhausted.
This fatigue suggests that in a game Sunday, McIlroy called it a “pillow battle.” However, this doesn’t sound like a pillow war. As McIlroy and Scheffler crossed the road, split the black route into two and hit four holes, numerous crowds, thousands of scenes similar to Woodstock, minus peace and love. On the tee where McIlroy dropped 1 time, he finally ran out of steam, blocked his tee in the bunker at 50 yards at the fairway, and had any real chance of having a 30 yards to force the tie.
A win by Scheffler kept America’s slim hopes to regain a historic comeback as his three teammates already scored 2.5 points on the board, while eight teammates behind made things interesting. Ben Crenshaw looked from behind the green when McIlroy and Scheffler finished the game. On Saturday night, did he have any FeelAs he did 26 years ago, could Team America achieve unimaginable ideas on Sunday?
“I honestly didn’t,” Crenshaw told me. “The profit is so huge. But you just don’t know about golf. Golf is so uncertain that they played their hearts today. But Europe played the greatest golf ever. On Saturday, it was like they were birding in every hole.”
Facing the gallery of breathing, McIlroy contributed to 10 of the birds, helping his team accomplish something, saying: “Everyone thinks it’s impossible to do – not only win in the United States, but win in New York.”
As McIlroy and his Guy Stella Artois’s teammates spoke to the press on Sunday night in a tent next to the putter green of a black course, an ineligible intruder who tried to push their way into a press conference. He wore a straw hat and a long-sleeved polo with an American flag on it. “This is the people’s course!” He cried, believing that Bert Patch’s Mooney’s identity should be granted to him Entrée. He was soon welcomed, but for McIlroy, the interruption was the right book for his wild week.
Shortly after the unnecessary guests left, McIlroy was asked about another intolerant: on Saturday’s four-goal game, when he answered the 16th heckle on the 16th hole, his approach shot to three feet. The reporter asked, this was really satisfying.
McIlroy didn’t miss any rhythm.
He leaned over the microphone and said, “Very satisfied.”
