After the contract acquisition with the Wizard, Trail Blazers add Blake Wesley

Sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday that the Portland Trail Blazers had signed a one-year contract. It is reportedly a fully guaranteed contract Sean Haijin Rose Garden Report.
Blake Wesley may have signed the lowest level contract
Although the financial terms of Wesley’s deal with Portland have not been released yet, NBA insiders have reported that he may have signed a minimum level contract that would pay him more than $2 million.
Last week, Wesley agreed to a contract acquisition with the Washington Wizards. The 22-year-old came to Washington earlier this month with Malaki Branham, a deal that sent Kelly Olynyk to the San Antonio Spurs.
He was selected to be the 25th overall pick in the 2022 draft and spent his first three seasons with the Spurs, averaging 4.3 points, 1.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 14.3 minutes (four games) (four games) in 156 games.
In 58 games on the San Antonio bench last season, Wesley averaged 3.7 points, 1.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 11.8 minutes of games, while shooting 43.5% from the field and Deep shot 29.3% from the field.
The Indiana native won a season-high 15 points in Denver on April 2.
According to REALGM, Wesley is more efficient in the G League than the NBA, shooting 45.6% on the floor, 35.9% of the Austin Spurs’ three-point attempt.
15 players signed standard contracts for the Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers now consider Wesley’s deal, with 15 standard contract players, 14 of which have guaranteed salaries. Duop Reath’s salary guarantee date will grow on August 1.
Earlier in the offseason, the Trail Blazers traded Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks to the Boston Celtics in exchange for veteran defender Jrue Holiday.
According to Spotrac, Matisse Thybulle also exercised his $11.55 million contract option in the 2025-26 season, keeping him with Portland for at least one year.
Thybulle is limited to 15 games in 2024-25 due to injury. Before the regular season began, he underwent a procedure in October to address inflammation in his right knee.
In those 15 games (5 games), Thybulle averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.2 steals and 20.8 minutes of games while shooting 47.7% from the field and 43.8% from the field in the 3-point field.
Wizard saves over $8 million through contract acquisition
The deal with Wesley and the acquisition of Marcus Smart reduced the wizard’s salary by $8 million.
Smart seized $6.8 million of his $2.159 million salary as part of his acquisition, while Wesley’s salary was about $1.38 million of his $4.73 million salary.
As a result, the two players are now heading towards the Washington cap for $18.13 million instead of $26.31 million. However, the wizard does not create any cap space for action.
According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the Wizard also has its entire non-tax intermediate intermediate exception ($14.1 million), as well as two trade exceptions worth $13.45 million and $9.9 million.
