Tottenham will be busy this summer as their goal is to recover from a very bad season in the Premier League, but the fact that they qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League means things will be easier – including players who keep attracting European interest.

One of those that falls into this category is Cristian Romero. The Argentine defender, who was selected for the final Europa League victory, has been a key player for Tottenham since his arrival, but is expected to leave in the summer.

However, Tottenham does not want to lose Romero and they will do their best to keep his service for at least another season.

Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest news about the situation on his YouTube channel and confirmed that Tottenham head Daniel Levy plans to hold talks with Romero to convince him to stay at the club.

“There is no active negotiations to extend Romero's contract, but while Daniel Levy will do his best to keep him in the Spurs despite Spanish interest.”

Romero's current deal is due in 2027, so there are less than two years left in early July. Tottenham Hotspur will be eager to agree to the new terms to avoid having to decide to honor its star defender, but at this stage, there is no guarantee of an agreement.

Whether Romero did leave Tottenham this summer, but if so, there would be a lot of replacements.
