Aaron Cresswell was associated with moving to Wrexham during the summer transfer window, and he could choose them over Leeds United.

The newly promoted champion outfit hopes to improve their defensive force, and the 35-year-old may be a useful acquisition for them. He will get a free transfer this summer, and Lee Hendrie believes moving to Wrexham will be suitable for him next season.

Wrexham moves may be ideal

Hendry told the Football League: “Aaron Cresswell is 35 years old and has extensive experience.

“He has limited what he has to do [game time] He last season. I think this is 20 games in the Premier League. So he obviously couldn’t find the way back to the side, and now he can offer it for free.

“For someone like Wrexham, who went to the championship, I think it would be great just by his experience.

“He would be a great addition to a good football player and I undoubtedly think he can advance to the championship and be a great player for them.

“Why didn’t they take him in the 35-year-old free transfer? I think it’s a good signing on the Welsh side.”

Last season, Cresswell struggled with West Ham’s regular game and he will hope to play regularly. At Leeds United, he may not be a guaranteed starter, so moving to Wrexham will likely attract him. How the situation will develop remains to be seen.

Leeds need deeper depth in the defensive department, and the 35-year-old will be their useful player. The teenager Firpo needs to be replaced in the summer and he is expected to continue moving forward. It will be interesting to see where the West Ham defender finally arrives.

His contract with the London Club is about to end and he will quickly decide his future. He needs to join a club where he will get enough time to play. He is in Twilight of his career and he doesn’t want to sit on the bench.

Leeds can certainly use players with quality and experience, but they will have to provide him with guarantees of game time.
