Marlins choose Seth Martinez to turn Janson Junk

The Marlins announced Wednesday that they have chosen the right contract Seth Martinez From Triple-A Jacksonville and grant the right Jensen Trash On the list of injuries for 15 days, due to ulnar nerve stimulation in the right arm. Miami also recalls right-handed Freddy Tarnok From Jacksonville and left-handed Josh Simpson Go to his place. The fish already has an open space on the 40-man lineup, so Martinez doesn’t need a 40-man move.

The call back to the major leagues is a good birthday gift from Martinez, who will turn 31 on Friday. Arizona’s product has been put into play in parts of four major league seasons, all with the Astros, who fits him in 2021-24. Martinez had 137 1/3 innings at the major league level in his career, during which time he created a 3.93 ERA (4.24 FIP, 4.19 Siera) with a strikeout rate of 20.7%, a walking rate of 9.2% and a ground ball rate of 39.6%.

At the end of the offseason, Martinez came to the Marlins with a waiver. Houston placed him on immunity in November and started a string of trades that took him from the D-Backs to the Marlins to the Mariners and then back to Miami, back to Miami. At the end of the spring training, the fish finally managed to pass the immunity of Martinez, who spent a full year at Jacksonville’s top membership where he performed well.

In 43 2/3 innings with Giant Shrimps, Martinez’s average run was 3.71. He covered up a strong 28.9% opponent with a 9.6% walk rate, only north of the reliefers averaged 9.3%. His foursome and pendant were sitting at 89-90 mph, but Hernandez used his sliders at any time of his career. His 46.7% usage rate actually makes the slider his main product. So far, it works well, demonstrating this not only by the aforementioned rate statistics, but also with a 13.1% swing and a poor opponent’s play metric (87.5 mph average exit speed, 33.9% hard hit rate).

It might be nothing more than Martinez’s coffee, but he’s done well enough in Triple-A and has enough track record, and it’s no surprise if he puts his way into some lasting power. Martinez is the minor league choice, so he can’t be simply sent back to Triple-A. He needs to pass a waiver, and his previous direct mission means he has the right to elect a free agent even in this case. If he does stick with Miami’s roster, he can control four more seasons.

As for the trash, it’s an inappropriate harm, a Michael who creates his own lasting power. Miami has been the sixth organization of the garbage group since 2021, and he came to the Fish with a 6.75 ERA in 40 professional major leagues. He unlocked something in South Florida but threw 88 innings with 4.09 ERA. Janson’s 17.2% strikeout rate can be charitably described as a pedestrian, but he has shown some of the best orders in his profession this year, with only 2.8% of his opponents. The 29-year-old solidified the Marinian rotation with this performance.

Time will tell if the trash is back on the mound this year, but there is only one month on the regular season calendar, and even minor injuries can prove to be the end of the season. If his season is over, it will easily be the most successful of his career. Miami can control the garbage if they have the option and if they want, he will be eligible for arbitration before the 2027-28 offseason.
