Leeds now regularly checks for ‘strong’ £16m star
Leeds United are now conducting a “regular check” of a £16m striker who can join Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson, a report shows.
Leeds pursues Wilson’s update
Wilson, who was obviously upset, appears to say goodbye to the Newcastle crowd on Sunday afternoon, with the British striker preparing to leave the Hippies after the summer contract expires.
The striker has played sporadic roles on Eddie Howe’s side this season, mostly as a substitute, and now he may line up to move to Premier League teams where he doesn’t have to compete with Alexander Isak’s quality striker for the starting point.
Leeds expressed interest in the British as they wanted to attract players with top-notch experience to avoid an immediate return to the championship, but now there are new updates and their interest in the forwards have been updated.
According to a report by football insiders, Leeds now has questions about signing Wilson’s signing, with transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealing that Dinamo Kyiv’s Vladyslav Vanat has been identified as a potential alternative.
O’Rourke said: “It will be a gamble… [Vanat] Dinamo Kyiv in Ukraine has a good goal record. His issuance terms are indeed about £16 million, which is relatively cheap in today’s market.
“It’s going to be a huge gamble, but I’m sure the Scouts in Leeds and all the other teams will have him regularly checked and if they think he can do that in the Premier League, they’ll advise them.”

“Strong” vanat will be an interesting gambling for Leeds
Given that Vanat has no experience in the European Major League and has never played outside of his Ukraine, Leeds has taken action this summer is a gamble, but there are some signs that might be a risk worth taking.
The Ukrainian international has maintained a stable goal record throughout the 2024-25 campaign, playing a major role in his team, ensuring the Ukrainian Premier League title.

Football scout Ben Mattinson has also been impressed by the 23-year-old in the past, claiming he can make an immediate impact on the Premier League.
Wilson may have proved himself in the Premier League, but the Newcastle striker is now 33, a piecemeal injury record to say the least, so Vanat could be a great option.
