Ray Promotion Ian Seymour – MLB Trade Rumor

Ray calls left-handed Ian Seymour From Triple-A Durham and right hand Cole Sulser Select triple A in the corresponding move. There is no need for a 40-man move, as Tampa has added Seymour to the 40-man roster before last November’s Rule 5 draft.
The 26-year-old Seymour will make his debut whenever he makes his debut. Seymour’s career was a second-round pick for Tampa Bay in the 2020 draft, and Seymour’s career immediately ran into some obstacles when flexion and Tommy John’s surgery were limited to only 114 innings in the 2021-23 season. If it weren’t for these health issues, Seymour might have been around a few years ago, as he had already promoted it to a triple A before the 2021 campaign ended.
Seymour maintained momentum after returning from TJ’s recovery. He released 2.35 ERAs in 2024 at a rate of 145 1/3 and combined Triple-A innings in 2024, while the ERA this season was 2.95 ERA with a strikeout rate of 32.7% and Durham had a walking rate of 5.8% (11 of 12 games). Baseball America ranks 15th in the ray top 30 prospects, while MLB Pipeline ranks 19th in the Tampa Bay Farm System Ranking.
If these rankings seem a bit modest for starters with Seymour numbers, it may be because Seymour’s average fastball speed is only in the 90s. That is, the court is still valid and is a secondary product for Seymour Plus Changeup. As Baseball America’s reconnaissance report says, Seymour relies more on “a combination of command and deception” than something pure, and his results among minors “will be hard to completely replicate” against major league batsmen. Seymour has started 69 of 71 professional games, although evaluators believe he may be better suited for MLB-level swingers or bulk pitchers.
Given their long history of pitcher development and creative use of arms, it is perfect for managing Seymour to take part in the show. Seymour appeared to be a job as a reliefist at first, as Tampa Bay could use fresh arms after using seven different pitchers in 11-10 more innings losses against the Marlins yesterday. Stablize Drew Rasmussen Starting today, but not more than six innings in his 12 games this season, with the next pause day being less than Thursday. Seymour joins Garrett Cleavinger and Mason Montgomery As a left-handed choice for Tampa pen.
