Golf Business News – BGL launches “Golf Pathway” to inspire a new generation of golfers

BGL (Burhill Group Limited) has launched its new program to make golf more accessible to beginners, and its “Golf Pathway” program is available at golf venues across the UK.
The program offers a structured route for new immigrants, from a reasonable price of £10 (through beginner group classes, brief games and course coaches) that provide equipment, as well as a free membership designed to simplify the transition to regular competitions.
“Golf has revived in recent years, but many are still scared of the traditional avenues of the sport,” said Guy Riggott, chief operating officer of the BGL golf division. “The program eliminates these barriers. It is friendly and affordable, and it provides people with the tools and confidence to enjoy the game in a safe environment.”
The “Path to Golf” spans four key stages:
- Tasting party – One-time group meeting to introduce the basics and equipment of the game in a relaxed social environment.
- Beginners coach – Four relaxing group courses focusing on core skills such as grips, postures and swings.
- “Preparation courses” – The follow-up series of the other four group classes, first with a brief competition and ending in the class.
- Free membership – One month club membership, including weekly social meetings, to help participants transition to regular golf.
The initiative is investing in the national BGL’s golf venue portfolio and is launched in its nine clubs, starting from Nottinghamshire, and spanning to Bristol and Kent.
The move is due to the help of BGL’s strategy to develop and invest in the Par-3 short course network in addition to serving and focusing on the driving range of technology. The company’s new plan is tailored to meet the needs of people trying golf for the first time, with a focus on affordability, inclusion and community.
“The focus here is not only on technology, but on enjoyment and belonging,” Riggott added. “We want people to not only do the program with some golf skills, but also on new friends, new confidence and what they really mean to join the game.”
Now, the “Road to Golf” now lives in many venues in BGL and accepts new participants through each club’s website.
From spectacular and challenging championship matches rolling the British countryside to family-friendly nine-hole courses, BGL Golf has and offers 22 courses on 10 golf courses. Birchwood Park and Hoebridge include health and fitness clubs, while Thornbury has beautiful, listed farmhouse cabins. Good value and high quality service and facilities attract a wide range of individual golfers, groups, weddings, parties and corporate events.
BGL is headquartered at Burhill Golf Club in Surrey, and the company’s other nine clubs around the country are: Abbey Hill Golf Centre (Bucks), Aldwickbury Park Golf Club (Herts), Birchwood Park Golf & Country Club (Kent), Hoebridge Golf Centre (Surrey), Ramsdale Park Golf Centre (Notts), Redbourn Golf Club (Herts), The Shropshire Golf Center (Shropshire), Thornbury Golf Center (Bristol) and Wycombe Heights Golf Center (Bucks).
