Red adds Joe La Sorsa to 40-man lineup

Reds plan to choose left-handed relief equipment Joe La Sorsa According to KPRC 2’s Ari Alexander, he will remain in their 40-man lineup. He will stay in Triple-A Louisville as the team will immediately choose him back to the minors. Cincinnati had 40 seats last week Alexis Díaz trade, so there is no need to take corresponding actions.
La Sorsa triggered an uptrend clause in a minor league deal over the weekend. This requires the Reds to evaluate other teams’ interest in choosing contracts. If any other team is willing to do so, Cincinnati will either have to bring him into his 40-man roster or have him onto another team. They took the previous approach to keeping him in the organization, but he still has two minor league choice years, and if he had a 40-man position for that long, he could stay in Louisville at the end of next season.
The 27-year-old La Sorsa made 41 MLB appearances in the Rays and Nationals between 2023-24. He has accumulated 4.47 bonuses in 50 1/3 innings. During his major league tenure, La Sorsa’s sinking flakes were in the range of 87-88 mph. The lack of speed resulted in a 19.2% strikeout rate below average. His speed has improved across the board in Triple-A this year. His sinking flap is close to 92 mph, while he pushes the sweeping slider from the mid-70s to the north of 78 mph. Even though he continued to lean on the sinker, his four sales reached a maximum of 94 mph.
The rise of the world attracted the Reds and at least another team. However, this did not improve the results. La Sorsa has a 3.92 ERA, matching 16.1% strikeout and walking rate in 20 2/3 frames in Louisville. His product has gained reputation for only 7.1% contribution, two percentage points lower than last year’s three swing strike rates. La Sorsa received better command in 56 innings in the Nats system last season as a 2.25 ERA. The Red Army will give him more time to try to build something bigger.
