Nick Kyrgios

Australian Nick Kyrgios said he will miss this year’s Wimbledon after suffering a “small setback” after his injury’s latest return.

Kyrgios was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the 2022 final, and over the past two years he has played barely tennis due to the hassle of requiring surgery.

At the Miami Open in March, the 30-year-old won his first singles game since 2022, but later quit the French Open with a knee injury, where he plans to play men’s doubles.

The Australian wrote on Instagram: “I had a small setback in my recovery and unfortunately I won’t be back in the grass season this year.

“I know you’ve been looking forward to seeing me there and I’m really sorry for disappointment. Although it’s just a bumpy road and I’m already working hard to be stronger than ever.”

Wimbledon will start on June 30.
