The story of how Scottie ended in the Taylormade P7TW iron is very relevant; he imagines a tiger.
This change happened after a round of the club’s eponymous Tiger Woods at the 2020 Masters.
As Scheffler told the golf course in 2022, he was in awe of the tigers controlling the golf ball in Augusta, and he wanted to try it himself, even though Scheffler beat him that Sunday at five o’clock. He also believes that given that Scheffler and Woods are both Nike employees, Scheffler was already playing Taylormade Irons at the time, and he used to play Taylormade Irons at Nike Erons in Woods.
“When I hit them at home, I was able to hit different windows, so when I hit it, I could be below the P730,” he said in 2022. “When I want to hit it, I could hit it, so I changed a lot more on the camera, and there was almost no more distance to the distance, and then added a certain kind of benefit.”
He needs to change another element. Scheffler’s irons used to be an inch longer, giving them a clumsy D6 swing. The solution to this problem comes from his long-time coach Randy Smith and club fitters who advised Scheffler to shorten his irons at three quarters of an inch and keep them upright one level.

Since these two changes in 2021, Schefler has become the world’s unquestionable No. 1 player, winning 16 PGA Tours and three majors. In the past week at the Memorial Hall, Schaffler scored 7.26 in close proximity, ranking second in the field. He was the first stroke of the season on the PGA Tour.
Those Taylormade P7TWs he switched to? They are exactly the same you can buy yourself.

The P7TW may look like a traditional muscle back blade, but they have tungsten sls on the club’s toes to help move the CG to the center of the face. They also have a grated sole grinding, which is a key point in Woods’ design process to make sure he doesn’t have to test multiple sets to find a set he likes.
