Pep’s side will challenge Dunn next year

Former defender Richard Dunne said Manchester City will challenge the Premier League title again.

Pep Guardiola’s campaign was poor this time, 13 points behind Liverpool, and has not won a trophy for the first time since 2016-17.

But Dunne made more than 350 appearances at City before moving to Aston Villa in 2009, and he thinks they will come back next time on the top of the mountain.

He told William Hill: “Manchester City will challenge the Premier League again next season.

“I actually think that City did a great job at the end of the season considering they were falling in form. The comfort of finishing in third place is the club, Pep Guardiola and the players prepare for the right spot next season.

“The last day of the Premier League season is a little strange for Manchester City because there is a Champions League place that adds some dangers.

“It’s not the same as winning a league or falling down. It’s a different kind of pressure.”

Manchester City still has clubs to play for the World Cup.

They ran a campaign against Moroccan team Wydad AC in the United States on June 18.
