Ottawa Senator May Watch Fires Defender Rasmus Andersson
Anthony Di Marco: David Pagnotta reported on a Brent Wallace podcast Monday that he believes the Ottawa Senator will follow Calgary Flames defender Rasmus Andersson if the contract extension goes badly between the Flames and Anderson.
Anderson does have a six-team-free clause, sources said. There are rumors that the flame is testing the waters with Andersson, but may now tend to keep him.

AFP Analytics’ Ehlers are expected to be six years with $8.1 million per transaction. If a bidding war occurs, this number may get higher. Connor Hellebuyck and Mark Scheifele are $8.5 million, so the Jets won’t exceed those two. Signs suggest Elles is not with the Jets next season.
That will leave a hole in their top six. Can Cole Perfetti, Nikita Chibrikov or Brad Lambert be filled in internally? Cheveldayoff may offer a mid-term or six-point striker in the first game.
The top priority for Cheveldayoff during the offseason is to have Kyle Connor sign a contract after July 1. He may have $11 million per season.

The Jets also need to complete new deals for RFA defender Dylan Samberg and RFA forward Gabriel Vilardi. Thunberg plans to have a five-year contract project for $5.2 million a year. It is not known whether the 26-year-old Thunberg wants a mid-term or long-term deal. The 25-year-old Vilardi is two years away from the UFA and should be interested in long-term deals, but that may not be feasible. Bridge trading may be an option for both.
